Keynote at Imperial: Flourishing in Primary Care Education
At the 2025 Annual Teachers Conference at Imperial College, Professor Louise Younie delivered the keynote on “Flourishing in Primary Care Education” under the conference theme Flourishing in Primary Care Education. Imperial College London
In her talk, she emphasiSed that speaking of flourishing helps shift the conversation beyond resilience and “toughing it out,” toward a more relational and ecological perspective. Flourishing involves connection with values, purpose, meaning, and compassion — to one’s own humanity and that of others.
The keynote explored how we might enable flourishing spaces in community GP education settings, especially in the context of today’s challenges.
It’s promising to see the language and ideas of flourishing increasingly entering conferences and academic settings, which is a sign that more people are engaging with these concepts in medical education and health fields.
Additionally, one student’s reflections on flourishing received strong engagement on LinkedIn, sparking lively discussion and interest in how these ideas resonate in lived experience.
